How to choose the right city for your school search
Choosing a school is rarely just about “the best campus.” It is about what you can realistically sustain every weekday. Start with your routine first, then use the city hubs to shortlist schools that fit your life, not just your preferences.
Start with commute reality. A school can look close on a map and still be stressful at drop-off time. Pick two or three likely routes from home and work, then use the map view to check travel time at school-run hours. If you are open to multiple cities, this step often eliminates half the options immediately.
Think in terms of pathways, not labels. Before you visit, decide what outcome you want at the end of secondary school (for example, a specific curriculum or qualification pathway). Then choose cities where that mix is more common, so your shortlist stays practical.
Ask about admissions timing early. Admissions can move faster than parents expect, especially at popular entry years. Before booking multiple tours, ask each school for a simple written timeline: assessments, interviews, documents, deposit deadlines, and likely start dates.
Budget for the full annual cost. Tuition is only one line item. Confirm what is included and what is extra, such as registration, uniforms, meals, transport, books, exams, and activities. Then compare like for like across cities, because two “similar” tuitions can produce very different total costs.
Once you pick a city, use filters to speed up your shortlist. Filter by the levels you need, then language of instruction, then curriculum. After that, only spend time on schools that publish enough detail for a meaningful visit.
