Data methodology

How PrivateSchools.cy data is collected and checked

PrivateSchools.cy is a parent planning platform. We separate official recognition signals, school-managed profile status, source confidence, and parent review data so families can judge what is reliable and what still needs confirmation.

Where listing data comes from

We use school websites, SEN provider websites, public or government-linked sources, school-submitted updates, provider-submitted updates, parent-submitted corrections, and admin review. Source-checked profiles can be incomplete until a school or provider claims the profile or confirms profile information.

Government-certified is different from managed profiles

Government-certified means an official or Ministry-linked recognition signal is listed. School-managed or provider-managed profile means the listing has requested access or confirmed profile information on PrivateSchools.cy. These labels are separate and should not be treated as the same thing.

Confidence labels and rating methodology

Annual tuition values under EUR 500 are treated as suspicious and are not shown as reliable tuition ranges. Events must have a clear date and stale academic-year text is hidden unless manually reviewed. Public ratings are shown whenever a rating exists; list cards without rating data show no rating badge, while profile and review contexts can say that no public rating is available yet. When both public source ratings and PrivateSchools.cy reviews exist, the displayed rating combines them as a weighted average.

What we show publicly

  • Fee labels distinguish school-published fees, Ministry-linked sources, estimated ranges, and data that may need school updates.
  • Event labels distinguish school-confirmed, provider-confirmed, source-confirmed, and manually reviewed dates.
  • Verified parent reviews and imported public review signals are treated separately where the data allows it.
  • Schools, SEN providers, and parents can request corrections when information is missing, outdated, or wrong.
